Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 6 June 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Ayurved Healing (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information in connection with the website ayurvedhealing.com (the “Site”). It applies to all visitors, readers, and subscribers, regardless of location. By using the Site you confirm that you have read and understood this policy.

We have tried to write this document in plain language. If anything is unclear, please contact us at [email protected] and we will explain it.

1. Who We Are

Ayurved Healing is an independent online publication focused on evidence-based Ayurvedic wellness content. For the purposes of data protection law, we act as the “data controller” of personal information collected through the Site.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

  • Comments. If you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name and email address you supply along with the comment text and the IP address from which it was submitted. Your email address is not publicly displayed.
  • Contact and feedback messages. When you email us or use the contact form, we receive the message content, your email address, and any other information you choose to include.
  • Newsletter subscription. If you opt in to a newsletter, we collect the email address you provide and a timestamp recording your consent.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Server logs. Our web server automatically records standard log information for every request, including IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, requested URL, and timestamp. This information is necessary for the Site to function and for security monitoring.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Small files placed on your device that enable site functionality, preference storage, and analytics. Full detail is set out in our Cookie Policy.
  • Analytics data. Aggregated, pseudonymised information about how visitors arrive at, navigate, and leave the Site. Individual visitors are not identified by name.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or comparable laws apply, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for newsletter subscriptions, non-essential cookies, and any optional features that ask you to opt in.
  • Legitimate interests — for operating, securing, and improving the Site; for responding to messages you send us; and for limited analytics in an aggregated form. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required by law to retain or disclose information.
  • Contract — where processing is necessary to deliver a service you have requested.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Operate and maintain the Site and its core features (commenting, search, navigation).
  • Reply to your messages, corrections, and topic requests.
  • Send newsletter editions to subscribers who have opted in.
  • Understand aggregate reading patterns so we can improve our editorial coverage.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to spam, fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not use your personal information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the Site. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.

5.1 Hosting and Content Delivery

Our Site is hosted on commercial cloud infrastructure and accelerated by Cloudflare. The hosting provider and Cloudflare necessarily process technical data (IP address, request headers, request timing) to deliver pages to your browser and to protect the Site against malicious traffic. Cloudflare’s data practices are described in Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

5.2 Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate Site usage. Google Analytics uses cookies and identifiers to track interactions in a pseudonymous manner. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by withholding consent for analytics cookies in our consent banner where applicable.

5.3 Email Delivery

Outgoing email (newsletter editions, replies to enquiries) may be delivered through a third-party email service provider. These providers process the recipient address and message content solely to deliver the email.

5.4 WordPress

The Site runs on WordPress, which sets a small number of functional cookies needed for comment submission and authenticated sessions.

6. Cookies

For a full breakdown of the cookies the Site sets, their purposes, durations, and how to control them, please see our Cookie Policy.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share information only in the following limited situations:

  • Processors acting on our behalf — the hosting, analytics, and email-delivery providers described above, each bound by appropriate data-processing terms.
  • Legal compliance — when disclosure is required by law, court order, or a lawful regulatory request, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ayurved Healing, our readers, or the public.
  • Business changes — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, information may be transferred to a successor entity, subject to equivalent privacy protections.
  • With your consent — for any purpose you specifically agree to.

8. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may process data outside your country of residence, including in jurisdictions whose data-protection laws differ from your own. Where transfers from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law.

  • Comments are retained for the life of the article they are attached to, unless removed earlier by the author or by us.
  • Email correspondence is retained for up to 24 months after the last exchange, then deleted or archived.
  • Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Server log data is retained for up to 90 days, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Analytics data is retained in accordance with the provider’s settings (Google Analytics standard retention).

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information. We honour these rights regardless of jurisdiction wherever it is practical to do so:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Restriction — request that we limit the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, including any direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw that consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
  • Lodge a complaint — submit a complaint to your local data protection authority.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what categories of information are collected, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” as defined by California law. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will verify your identity (typically by replying to the email address on file) and respond within 30 days. Exercising these rights is free of charge.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard the information we hold, including TLS encryption in transit, hardened server configurations, restricted administrative access, and regular security updates. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee against every possible threat. If we ever become aware of a personal-data breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities in line with applicable law.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for an adult audience and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. External Links

Articles on the Site frequently link to research papers, classical texts, and other reference material hosted on third-party websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our service providers, or applicable law. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will always show when the policy last changed. Material changes will be highlighted prominently on the Site for a reasonable period after the update.
