The schoolteacher case in the introduction hit close to home. My mother has similar knee degeneration and the framing here around Vata-Asthi dhatu involvement finally gave me language to explain to her why the Ayurvedic approach is looking at it differently from her orthopedist.

the milk-medicated enrma concept was hard for me to accept initially but the explanation of Kshira carrying the Tikta properties directly to the Asthi dhatu makes pharmacological sense. tbh

the evidence for Kahira Basti in joint degeneration is limited to small Ayurvedic clinical studies. I’d want to see this compared against HA injections or PRP. tbh

The part about Basti reaching Asthi dhatu through the colon-bone relationship in Ayurveda is what made me read the whole article twice. As someone with early-stage knee degeneration I had assumed my only options were glucosamine or eventually replacement. This opened up a completely different angle.
