My husband started Karna Purana six weeks ago at a clinic in Pune. He was very reluctant at first because the whole idea of pouring oil in your ear sounded strange to him. Now he does it himself at home every few days and says the high-pitched ringing that used to wake him up at night has almost completely stopped.

The science on tinnitus is still fairly weak across all treatment modalities, not just Ayurvedic ones. So I’m not dismissing this, just contextualizing it. CBT has the strongest evidence base currently and even that only improves perception rather than the underlying sound. If this oil therapy helps some people that’s worth knowing.

What is the protocol for someone who gets recurrent ear wax buildup? I worry that adding oil would make the impaction worse. Do you need to get wax removed before starting the treatment?

This is interesting but the cost adds up quickly. The supplements, the practitioner fees, the specialty foods. Not accessible for most of the workers this is supposed to help.

I work as a physiotherapist and see a lot of TMJ patients. Jaw pain and ear issues together in the same patient is very common and conventional treatment often addresses only one side. The idea that ear oil therapy could help the jaw makes anatomical sense given how closely those structures are connected.

I appreciate posts that acknowledge what conventional medicine has already done before jumping to alternatives. This one does that honestly, the audiologists, ENT, neurologist all checked out first. That kind of case history is actually more convincing to me than ones that skip straight to the Ayurvedic solution.
